Slovosled

Normálny slovosled sa používa v nepriamych otázkach, kde podmet stojí pred slovesom a nie je potrebné používať 'do' alebo 'did':

Áno / nie otázky

Pri tomto type otázky sa používa 'ask' + 'if / whether' + veta:

"Have you been to Bristol before?"	She asked if I had been to Bristol before.

Opytovacie slová

Pri tomto type otázky sa používa 'ask' (alebo iné sloveso ako 'ask') + opytovacie slovo + veta. Veta obsahuje otázku s normálnym slovosledom a s potrebnou zmenou času.
